Backing Up Wii Games: A How-To
We all know how game discs can get scratched, broken, or otherwise rendered unusable. And, those games are between $30-$60 each, so replacing them can get expensive. In this article, you’ll learn how to make backup copies of your Wii games, saving a lot of money in the long run.
Note: You’ll need a mod chip in your Wii to play these copied games, but we’ll get to that later.First, you’ll need a specific DVD-ROM drive to burn the discs. There are a few that work, such as the:
* LG-8164b
* LG-8163b
* LG-8162b
* LG-8161b
Once you have the drive connected to your PC, you’ll need a few applications. These are:* Raw dump 2.0* .net Framework 2.0* WinRarWhen you’ve downloaded these files, right-click on rawdump2.0.rar and select the “extract to rawdump 2.0″ option. This will create a folder on your desktop called rawdump2.0.Insert your Wii game into the LG drive you connected earlier.
Then, open the rawdump 2.0 folder and double-click on the rawdump2.0.exe file. On the next screen that comes up, select “Start Dump”. Be patient, this may take a couple of hours. The output of this process will be in the same directory as the “rawdump2.0.exe” file. It will be called “GameName (whatever that may be).iso”.
This image can be burned using any number of utilities, one of the most popular being Nero Burning Rom.
IMPORTANT! When you go to burn the image to a disc, select a slower burn speed to prevent disc read errors.
That’s it! You’re done!
