Eliminate UMDs with PSP Copy Games

Are you an avid PSP gamer? If so, you probably have dozens, maybe even hundreds of UMDs. Picking and choosing from this many discs can be annoying, especially when you’re on the go. In addition, if any of these discs get severely scratched, you can forget being able to play them. This means that the $40 or $50 you originally paid for the game goes down the drain.

Fortunately, you can prevent these difficulties with PSP copy games. What are PSP copy games? PSP copy games are the backup files associated with the original game or movie. They allow you to play the file without a UMD. All you need is the appropriate PSP firmware, (which can be downloaded), along with a decent-sized PSP memory card.

So, how does a person create PSP copy games? They will need to get some type of copying software. CopyThatGame is an example. With this system you can create as many PSP copy games as you like without having to learn complex programming. In fact, the system even includes a video tutorial so you know exactly what you need to do to create your backups. It also includes a text-based tutorial, if you would prefer to read the information.

As far as legality, systems like CopyThatGame are within the boundaries of the law. Why? Legally, you are entitled to a backup of your virtual property, whether it’s software, DVDs or video games. So, as long as you bought whatever file you’re trying to back up, PSP copy games are perfectly legal.

The only time PSP copy games become illegal is if they are distributed through file-sharing networks. This is the case even if you own the game, since you are not entitled to give it away. Ultimately, if you create PSP copy games, they must be for personal use only. You cannot give the files away, either online or to your friends. If you do you could risk getting into legal trouble.

But beyond that, PSP copy games offer a great alternative for hands-free PSP gaming. With them you’ll never have to worry about keeping up with your UMDs. You don’t even have to worry if the UMDs break, since PSP copy games stay fresh in virtual form.

The only exception is if something happens to your computer. In this situation your PSP copy games might get wiped out, (along with any other file on your machine). So, to prevent losing them, always back them up on a second medium. Maybe you could put them on a flash disk or a portable hard drive. You can even send them as an email to yourself if the file is small enough. Either way, just make sure you do something to create your ‘ultimate’ backup. If you do you’ll never have to worry about losing your PSP copy games or the money you originally paid for them.
