WoW pets - Which are the best?
While making a choice of the pet you will be using you have to consider which type of content you will be running and with what spec. World of Warcraft is split into two major types PvE and PvP. PVP Content
There are three categories of PVP content in game at the moment, arena, battlegrounds and world pvp; with first two being the most interesting and popular. Hunter’s utilities make them an excellent class for PvP. PvP is all about controlling the situation and hunter can do that with a proper spec and pet, but keep in mind that your play style will also depend on spec that you will choose. Hunter is very dangerous when he has range from his target but rather weak when in your melee range. Keeping distance from their enemies is a must for all hunters.
Various traps and abilities that hunter poses will allow them to do so but sometimes they just won’t be enough to keep the enemies away. Survival is at this point best spec for a PvP hunter with Marksmanship in close second place, were as beast mastery still isn’t that good. Question is, which hunter pet will help me to keep control over my enemies? Spiders and crabs are very good at this, and most of the hunters use them for PvP. Every hunter needs to know how to properly kite his targets otherwise he won’t be able to defeat his enemy.
Spiders
Spiders are very good in PvP probably even the best and immobilize effect from their web ability with cunning talent tree is the reason why most hunters use them. Web ability has a rather short cool down of 40 seconds and if you use it properly with the rest of your abilities it will be more than enough to always keep a distance from your target. Web is not dispelable and only way to remove them is with abilities like hand of freedom from paladin. The weak side of spiders is that they don’t have the survivability of tenacity pets or damage of ferocity. They are also easy to feed as their diet is meat! Crabs
Crabs are probably second most used pets in arena and have similar unique ability to spiders called pin, which will also immobilize target for four seconds dealing nature damage to them, however, this effect is dispelable. On the other hand, crabs are tenacity pets and are harder to kill than spiders.
PVE content
PVE is all about raiding, downing new bosses and doing hard modes. Hunter is a pure dps class and thus their main and only task is to do maximum damage in boss fights. Most common specs are marksmanship and survival where beast mastery is not viable raiding spec due to very low dps compared to other hunter specs. Pets for PvE hunters are basically easy to pick as ferocity is the way to go for PvE, ferocity is all about doing the maximum damage. Deciding on which pet is best for PvE content is easy and it is definitely wolf because he is superior to other ferocity pets! Wolf’s Furious howl gives you 320 attack power with 50% uptime and it is a very nice boost to your dps. Ferocity talent tree is built around gaining more survivability for your pet and increasing damage done.
